There are many very good fashion design schools located in New York such as Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and Fashion Institute of Technology. The top notch fashion designers that graduate from these schools set up their bases in New York City. Many fashion houses have opened in New York City and of course there are the fashion shows during the fashion weeks. Every year new designers break out and stand out from the rest. Eric Schlosberg

Eric Schlosber is a 28 year old fashion designer that presented his fall and winter collection recently. The style was akin to Alice in Wonderland mixed with a New Jersey girl from the 80s. His designs can be purchased on his website at EricSchlosberg.com. In the past Eric ran a label called Ammerman Schlosber with a classmate of his from Pratt Institute. Eric and his classmate had failed out of the Parsons fashion program because their decided their designed were more on the costume side of the design. More recently Eric has learned to restrain his style and has been creating pieces that can be paired with the shopper’s existing clothes. Eric wants his buyers to feel empowered, fabulous, and outrageous, but without the style being too over the top that the wearer of the garment is unconscious when stepping out of the house.

Sandy Liang

Sandy Liang is based in a Lower East Side studio in the basement. Although her studio is in the basement, it is still quite bright, has plenty of white space, and has many mirrors on the wall to give it an expansive look. Sandy Liang has a website where her designs can be purchased from. It is SandyLiang.Info. Many large retailers sell Sandy Liangs designs such as Moda Operandi, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Kirna Zabete. Sandy has had eight seasons, but only three employees, but they progress. According to Sandy, she just wants to design clothes that she can wear and her friends can wear as well. Sandy is from Queens New York and derives inspiration from the relaxed way people dress.

Abdul Abasi, 36 years of age and Greg Rosborough 33 years of age have been designing charcoals suits that everyone wants to wear. They were once classmates at Fashion Institute of Technology. Color is what inspires Ellen Van Dusen. Many New Yorkers often wear black and Ellen wants to add a splash of color to their wardrobes.
